To me, the yellow pepper symbolizes vitality, transformation, and future growth. Rooted between human and extraterrestrial remains, it becomes a living bridge between worlds, suggesting that despite our differences, all life may share the same cycles of nourishment, decay, renewal, and possibility. The three blossoms, poised to bear fruit, represent future growth and harvest. Ultimately, the piece is a dream of unification; an alternative to the fractured state of waking life, where conflict and division so often define human existence, and to the assumption that life beyond our world must be hostile.

There is something magical about the Ragged point Inn and more specifically, the sculpture and view through it. As a child, I would spend time at ...read more my grandparents house under the loving care of my grandma. Her garden was full of the common bird of paradise plants; blue and orange. I spent time with her in her garden, playing and causing trouble. Flash forward to my own home, I also have the common ones growing in my yard. However, there is one palm tree, or so I thought, that started producing black and white flowers. Turns out, this is another type called the Giant White Bird of Paradise. Its beauty not only reminded me of my grandma, but it created a new appreciation for this specific type. This artwork is currently displayed online in the Las Laguna Art Gallery.

"Big Sur-real Sunset" is inspired by various coastal road trips through Big Sur and the unique, surreal, sunsets I experienced on those trips. I don't think any photo or painting can do a California coastal sunset justice, but this is my attempt to share that feeling. I chose to use oil paints for the ease of blending on canvas and to re-create the warmth and vibrancy.
